Every Wednesday Fleet Feet Sports Lincoln Square hosts a women-only fun run series known as 'Chick's Night'. Created by our co-owners, the series aimed to create a safe, supportive, and fun environment for women of all abilities and ages to come and run in a male-dominated running scene in the mid-90's.
Over 20 years later, on Wednesday, January 31st, we keep the tradition rolling with a once-in-every-two-and-a-half-years event. A supermoon.
According to NASA, a supermoon is a moon that is full when it is also at or near its closest point in its orbit around earth. When these lunar events occur, the moon appears 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter. Supermoons usually show up every 13 months, but this year is different. Because January has a second full moon -- on January 31 -- it will also be a supermoon. The second full moon in one month is known to some as a ‘blue moon.’ Blue moons happen every two and a half years, on average, NASA says.
Join us at 6:30 p.m. for a 3-5 mile run at our Lincoln Square store. We'll run a different route than normal to get the clearest look at the sky.
No need for an official sign up, just show up or join the conversation on Facebook. See you there.
