Introducing the On Cloud Family

Please, give a warm welcome to On, the newest brand to be featured on the Fleet Feet Sports Chicago shelves.

Earlier this week we wrote a feature piece on the Swiss brand and their unconventional ways. From their co-founder's ideologies to their logo and product design, On sticks out from the rest on our shoe wall.

“In the beginning, all I did was cut a garden hose into pieces and put them onto my existing running shoes”, said On founder Olivier Bernhard

Today we are highlighting the product rather than the brand itself. The first three models to make it in our stores are the Cloud, CloudFlyer, and CloudFlow. Let's start with the Cloud.

On Cloud

The On Cloud is a minimal shoe with maximum cushioning. It's lightweight. So lightweight that it claims to be the lightest fully cushioned running shoe in the world. The sole uses the patented aforementioned "garden hose" technology known today as CloudTec. Separated by a central channel, the outsole is lined with CloudTec pods that are designed to move with you.

The pods are affixed directly to a semi-transparent Speedboard allowing each cloud element to move and respond individually to your unique gait.

Built from their responsive Zero-Gravity EVA foam, the shoe weighs in at around 200 grams, making it a great option for a lightweight performer for the fast marathoner or a great option for the average marathoner looking for a lightweight option for their 5K or 10K. 

Forget about lacing up your running shoes: The On Cloud features an easy-entry lacing system that can be adapted to your foot. A conventional lace comes with every Cloud for tighter lacing.

The combination of these innovations is the reason the Cloud was awarded the prestigious Gold Award at ISPO, the international sporting goods trade fair, as the 2015 best performance running shoe.

On CloudFlyer

The CloudFlyer is On's lightweight stability shoe. Extra cushioning and stability, without the extra weight. The CloudFlyer weighs in at about 300 grams, about 100 grams more than the Cloud. Similar to the Cloud, the CloudFlyer uses 12 individual CloudTec pods to cushion intelligently while activating the inherent stability of your body and gait.

Different from the Cloud, stability impulse in specifically engineered heel "Clouds" promotes running motion without inward rotation. 

Star lacing over a plush tongue brings long distance comfort and provides a snug and secure fit.

Compared to the Cloud, the Cloudflyer offers a wider surface area. The wider platform provides a stable stance and gives you secure comfort on long distance runs.

On CloudFlow

The CloudFlow is a lightweight and responsive performance shoe for the neutral foot.

18 Cloudtec pods independently cushion and propel your every step. Hit the ground perfectly with the added Clouds positioned precisely where you need them, and all with the lightness of the Zero-Gravity EVA foam found in both the Cloud and CloudFlyer.

The upper of the Cloudflow is in a league of its own. Adaptive, engineered mesh uses the latest weave-technology to blend breathability with support, while antimicrobial treatment guarantees a lasting freshness run after run after run.

Different from both of the previous models mentioned, the CloudFlow features a first-layer in-built sock. This is a new level of comfort for performance running shoes – one that feels so good, you will want to wear them both on and off the track.

The CloudFlow is a bit heavier than the lightweight Cloud but since it doesn't need the added stability of the CloudFlyer, the shoe weights in at 220 grams, making it a great neutral option to log heavy amount of miles in.
